Zane Grey

Zejn Grej (pravo ime Perl Zejn Grej; 31. januar 1872 — 23. oktobar 1939) je bio američki pisac koji je svetsku slavu stekao svojim avanturističkim romanima o životu na američkom Divljem zapadu.

Rođen u Zanesvilu, Ohajo, Grej je u mladosti bio poluprofesionalni igrač bejzbola. Studirao je stomatologiju na Univerzitetu u Pensilvaniji, gde je diplomirao 1896. Nakon što je nekoliko godina radio kao zubar u Njujorku, odlučio je da se posveti pisanju.

Svoj prvi roman Beti Zejn objavio je 1904. inspirisan pričama o svojoj prabaki. Pravi uspeh postigao je romanom Jahači rumene kadulje iz 1912. godine, koji je sa 750.000 prodatih primeraka postao najprodavaniji roman u SAD do tada. ​

Tokom svoje karijere, Grej je napisao ukupno 54 avanturistička romana, od kojih su mnogi adaptirani u filmove i stripove. Njegova dela odlikuju jednostavni zapleti i živopisni opisi američkog Zapada, postavljajući temelje zapadnom žanru u književnosti. ​

Zejn Grej je preminuo 23. oktobra 1939. u Altadeni u Kaliforniji. Njegovo nasleđe živi kroz brojne romane i adaptacije koje su oblikovale percepciju Divljeg zapada u popularnoj kulturi.
