Hotel Horizont

Hotel Horizont

Valerija Cerovec

On a lonely island, which can be reached by the Titanic ferry that runs only once a month, and can only be accessed by invitation and knowing the password, there is the most attractive hotel - Hotel Horizont.

A group of people live and work at the Horizont Hotel, whose lives are followed by the whole world. When a new girl, Dora, arrives at the Hotel Horizont by invitation, among thousands of other chosen ones, the manager Velma gives her tasks - from now on her name will be Ursula, her symbol will be a seal, and she will become the most famous acrobatic swimmer. Other residents of the Hotel, like Dora, have their roles, new names and symbols, their successes are followed by the whole world, people write them letters, and their photos are on the covers of the world's most important magazines. But not everything is ideal on the island and in the Hotel: the inhabitants are consumed by jealousy and regret for the outside world, they are actually inhabitants of a golden cage. Like the films of Wes Anderson or Yorgos Lanthimos, in his debut, Valeri Cerovec puts his heroes in impossible, absurd situations in meticulously designed interiors and exteriors. Hotel Horizont is a sharp satire on today's way of life, on reality shows, on our desire to look more beautiful, to present ourselves as better than we are, to follow fake influencers and live deeply unhappy lives.
