Plavi čuperak

Miroslav Antić

Plavi čuperak is a collection of poems by Miroslav Antic, edited by Nasiha Kapidžić-Hadžić. The collection is about growing up, first love, imagination, dreams and feelings of children on the transition to youth.

Plavi čuperak is a selection of poems by Serbian poet Miroslav Antic, selected and edited for young readers by Nasiha Kapidžić-Hadžić. The collection gathers poems from Antic's most famous poetic circle dedicated to childhood, growing up, first loves, daydreaming and discovering one's own identity. The central place is occupied by the title poem Plavi čuperak, one of the most famous poems in South Slavic literature for young people.

The poems are intended primarily for readers entering adolescence. They feature motifs of infatuation, longing, insecurity, dreams, friendship and growing up. Antic does not teach directly, but addresses young people as equals, trying to understand their feelings and doubts. This is why his poems seem sincere, close and contemporary even decades after they were written.

In this edition, the poems are arranged in two parts: Kad bi jastuci progovorili and Hiljadu novih zvezda. Among the more famous poems are Plavi čuperak, Kad bi jastuci progovorili, Prvi tango, Tajna, Plava zvezda and other poems that speak about the inner world of children and young people. The collection is often described as a kind of "manual for growing up" because it depicts in a warm, humorous and poetic way the feelings that almost everyone experiences while growing up.
