Muka po Stjepanu

Muka po Stjepanu

Josip Petrlić Pjer

A modest and shy peasant, Stjepan, falls in love with the most beautiful and desirable girl in the village – Marica. Although the chances of his love coming true are minimal, he suddenly attracts her attention and they get married.

Most adult novels would stop there, but this one is just beginning because Marica is not a typical village girl who will accept her circumstances, but will try with all her might to change the predictable course of her life. Even at the cost of hurting everyone else around her… Although the subtitle indicates the genre of romance, we are faced with a novel that is actually a social study of the relationships and conditions that have marked a region and its inhabitants.
