Krunoslav Draganović: Iskazi komunističkim istražiteljima

Miroslav Akmadža

A historical-documentary study by Miroslav Akmadža on the role and fate of Reverend Krunoslav Draganović, shedding light on the secrets of his emigration, wartime journeys, and relationship with Yugoslavia through his interrogation statements.

The book Krunoslav Draganović – Statements to Communist Investigators by Croatian historian Dr. Miroslav Akmadža is an exceptionally important documentary-historical work focusing on one of the most enigmatic and controversial figures in 20th-century Croatian history. Krunoslav Draganović—a Catholic priest, historian, and key figure in organizing the so-called "ratlines" that enabled many defectors and political émigrés to leave Europe after World War II—was for years a subject of intense interest for global intelligence agencies. The core of the book consists of previously secret and unpublished transcripts of interrogations conducted by UDBA investigators following Draganović’s sudden and mysterious return (or abduction) from Rome to Yugoslavia in 1967. Akmadža expertly analyzes these statements, offering readers insight into Draganović’s explanations regarding his activities during the war in the Independent State of Croatia (NDH), his humanitarian and political work in Rome, his contacts with Western intelligence agencies, and his complex relationship with the Yugoslav regime. Based on extensive archival material, this study presents a dispassionate, objective, and well-documented perspective on the events and the figure around whom numerous conspiracy theories and political myths have swirled for decades.
