Od norme do uporabe 2: Zbornik radova sa znanstvenog skupa Od norme do uporabe
A collection of linguistic studies exploring Croatian language norms and actual usage through contemporary language, functional styles and historical sources.
Edited by Maja Glušac, Od norme do uporabe 2 brings together papers from the academic conference held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek on 28–29 September 2018. Its central concern is the relationship between prescribed language rules and actual usage, examined through contemporary and historical material.
Contributions address accentuation, the treatment of administrative expressions in dictionaries, features of legal language and the overlap between administrative and journalistic styles. A particularly revealing study compares the rules formulated by Kajkavian grammarians with the language of their own literary works, testing prescription against writing practice.
Bringing together language history, lexicography and stylistics, the volume examines how textual contexts and communicative needs interact with normative expectations. It offers specialist reading for scholars and students of Croatian, linguists, teachers and editors interested in evidence-based discussions of language standardisation.
