Zagor LU #142: Paukova mreža

Paukova mreža opens a new adventure featuring Mortimer, a criminal mastermind sentenced to death and hanged before numerous witnesses. Yet months later he appears alive in Kingston, where an assassination attempt against gubernatorial candidate Marvin Sykes is being prepared.

How did he survive, and what part does he play in the conspiracy? Zagor faces a case in which apparently established facts cannot be trusted. Clues suggesting the return of another adversary make the situation more dangerous. The investigation becomes a battle of wits against enemies who anticipate his reactions.

Moreno Burattini combines crime mystery with political intrigue. A public execution, a potential assassination and a hidden organiser create interconnected puzzles, with suspense growing as the relationships between the participants emerge. Deception and manipulation matter more than a straightforward confrontation: Zagor must understand the trap before he can counter it.

Marco Verni makes his debut in Zagor’s regular series with this issue. The storyline continues in Mortimerov povratak and concludes in Zagor protiv Krojača, making the three instalments best read together.
