Evolucija božanstva: od sfinge do Krista

Evolucija božanstva: od sfinge do Krista

Édouard Schuré

"The Evolution of Divinity" was published in 1912, and the subtitle "From the Sphinx to Christ" indicates that it is the first part of a larger whole. The second part (which remained unwritten) was supposed to show the esoteric tradition from Christ to Lu

The concept of "Evolution of Divinity" is based on the author's view of how humanity developed under the influence of cosmic forces. In his presentation, he started from the planetary evolution through Atlantis and the Atlanteans, the mysteries of India, the stage of the solar logos, Hellenism, all the way to the consideration of the cosmic Christ and the historical Christ. The book is dedicated to Rudolf Steiner, whom Schure quotes often and respectfully.

This work is in a way a counterpart to another great work by Schure about the founders of religions ("The Great Initiators"). However, "Evolution of Divinity" is not just a slavish echo of an anthroposophical or some theosophical doctrine, but an original creation that must interest every thinking person, even if he did not agree with the writer's explanation. "Even if our paths are different, even if we look at the secrets of the universe through various cracks in the great curtain, nothing can separate us, because we are heading towards the same goal."

"While in the first work I tried to touch the divine world through the consciousness of the great prophets of humanity, as we look at the stars from the top of some kind of lighthouse, now I went the opposite way. I wanted to look at human history from the perspectives of the stars or, rather, observe how humanity developed under the influence of cosmic forces. That is the concept of 'Evolution of Divinity'." (Edouard Schure)
