Das Zauberschiff

Das Zauberschiff

Sandra Paretti

Sandra Paretti's epic adventure about a luxury German steamship in New York in 1914. The struggle for survival is depicted through war intrigue, forbidden love, and a dangerous escape across the Atlantic.

"Das Zauberschiff" is one of Sandra Paretti's most exciting and popular novels, set in the summer of 1914, at the outbreak of the First World War. The plot is inspired by real historical events and follows the fate of the magnificent German transatlantic steamship Kronprinzessin Cecilie, known for its unprecedented luxury and elegance, which found itself in the port of New York when the war began in Europe.

This impressive ship becomes a refuge for a motley group of passengers - from European aristocrats and rich American landowners to adventurers, spies and people running away from their past. While the political situation suddenly worsens, the captain of the ship makes a bold and extremely dangerous decision: to set sail secretly under cover of night without lights and undertake a risky escape across the Atlantic full of enemy warships. Within this closed world on the ocean, dramatic destinies, passionate love affairs, political intrigues and the struggle for bare survival are intertwined.

Sandra Paretti, with an exceptional storytelling gift, evokes the atmosphere of the end of an era. Through a tense plot, the novel explores the themes of loyalty, courage and insecurity in times of great historical turning points.
