Gorski vijenac

Gorski vijenac

Petar Petrović Njegoš

Mountain Wreath is a classic work of Montenegrin national literature of Peter II. Petrović Njegoš, Montenegrin head of state, metropolitan and poet.

Garland of the Mountain is an epic written in the vernacular, Montenegrin language in 1846 in Cetinje. Njegoš in Gorski vijenc sings about the "investigation of poturica", an event that allegedly took place in Montenegro at the end of the seventeenth century, but about which there is no reliable information in historical science.
