Das dritte Buch von Emir Imamović Pirke, „Die dritte Hälfte“, erzählt die Geschichte einer typischen sozialistischen Siedlung rund um eine Stacheldrahtfabrik und der Nachkriegsruine dieser Stadt und ihrer Bevölkerung.

Der Roman beginnt mit einem Fernsehnachrichtenbericht über die Entdeckung dreier Leichen in der Duboka-Grube oberhalb von Podgrad und erzählt in einer Reihe von Rückblenden eine Geschichte, die bis in die Vorkriegszeit zurückreicht und die am Ende des Romans wird das Rätsel ihres Mordes lösen. Pirka meistert die komplexe und umfassende Handlung gekonnt und unmissverständlich zum Wohle der Geschichte. Die dritte Hälfte ist ein Roman, dessen Kriminalgeschichte auf der Grundlage privater Dramen entstanden ist, die irgendwo im historischen, politischen, psychologischen und Fußballbereich erdacht wurden. Kurz gesagt, alles an einem Ort, weder in der Stadt noch im Dorf, sondern in Podgrad.
