Zagor LU #266: Bitka za život
In Tierra del Fuego, Zagor and the Marilena’s sailors seek the captive Hilario, while an encounter with Jemmy Button reveals a story of forced assimilation and survival.
Bitka za život concludes the Tierra del Fuego adventure begun in Ognjena zemlja and Preko granice svijeta. At the southern tip of the Americas, a rescue mission becomes a struggle for survival, intertwined with the history of encounters between Europeans and Indigenous communities.
Zagor and the sailors of the Marilena search for the captive Hilario. Their route brings them into contact with Jemmy Button, whose experiences connect two very different worlds.
Burattini incorporates the historical account of Fuegians taken to England and subjected to an experiment in European education and assimilation. Beyond the immediate danger, the story raises questions about belonging, presumed cultural superiority and the consequences of imposing another society’s values. This historical background is woven into the series’ fictional adventure.
Giuseppe Prisco’s artwork conveys the harsh landscape, physical strain and tension between the characters. The action gains urgency from the isolation of a place where outside help is difficult to obtain.
This issue completes the three-part storyline spanning Ludens #264–266, within Zagor’s extended journey through South America.
