Season of Mists: A Collection of Celtic Moods
Season of Mists presents 12 atmospheric Celtic pieces featuring Séamus McGuire, Joanie Madden, Wolfstone and others. Gentle melodies and acoustic sounds invite relaxation and attentive listening.
Season of Mists: A Collection of Celtic Moods brings together Celtic music in a selection focused on melody, atmosphere and the beauty of performance. Twelve pieces connect different artists through a shared closeness to tradition and an invitation to quieter listening. Rather than stylistic uniformity, the compilation offers individual approaches that meet in a warm, understated atmosphere.
Séamus McGuire opens the programme with The Wishing Tree, followed by Pat Kilbride’s Ceol na Nollag. The House Band’s Grimstock and Sìleas’s Miss Gordon of Gight broaden the sound, while The Tannahill Weavers’ The Sound of Taransay continues the journey through melodies with a strong traditional character.
John Whelan and Eileen Ivers come together on Lorraine’s Waltz, and Wolfstone contributes Glenglass. Joanie Madden is represented by Marcus Hernon’s Air, followed by Déanta’s An Raibh Tú Ag An gCarraig. The changing performers give each recording its own identity, while the sequence maintains a sense of connection and natural flow.
Reeltime’s Pockets of Gold, Orealis’s L’Hiver sur Richelieu / Miss B’s Dreams and Kevin Crawford’s title track, Season of Mists, complete the selection. This gentle, melodic side of folk appeals to established admirers of Celtic traditions and listeners approaching them for the first time. It suits evening relaxation or a quiet break, while attentive listening reveals the musicians’ individual styles. This is a collection to revisit for its atmosphere as well as for each distinctive melody.
