Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Gabriel José García Márquez (Aracataca, Kolumbien, 6. März 1927 – Ciudad de México, Mexiko, 17. April 2014) ist ein kolumbianischer Schriftsteller, Journalist, Verleger und politischer Aktivist. Er erhielt 1982 den Nobelpreis für Literatur. Sein erstes erfolgreiches Buch war „The Colonel has no one to write to“, das 1961 erschien, ein Jahr später folgte „Great Mom's Funeral“.
Für sein berühmtestes Buch „Hundert Jahre Einsamkeit“ erzählte er, wie ihm eine Art Offenbarung widerfuhr, als er sich Acapulco näherte, und er wusste nicht warum, aber er wusste, dass er dieses Buch schreiben musste. Die Erfahrung war so umfassend, dass er das erste Kapitel Wort für Wort diktieren konnte. Mit dem Buch „Liebe in Zeiten der Cholera“ kehrte er 1986 zu romantischen Themen zurück, einer starken, poetischen und komischen Geschichte über langjährige Liebe, die auch die Liebesgeschichte seiner Eltern beschreibt. Es folgten „Der General im Labyrinth“, „12 Pilger“ (eine Sammlung von Kurzgeschichten) und „Liebe und andere Dämonen“.
