Yeats is dead! is an unpretentious, entertaining and humorous crime story full of murders related to the public unknown, unpublished manuscript of James Joyce, and what makes this novel interesting and unusual is its authorship. Each of the 15 chapters of this intricate crime story is written by a different Irish writer (from the highly respected Frank McCourt, Roddy Doyle and Anthony Cronin to the lesser-known Owen and Charlie O'Neill or Donal O'Kelly), and the novel was created for a full 4 years under the editor's supervision. Joseph O'Connor (who signs Chapter 9) and all proceeds from sales benefit Amnesty International.

It is clear from the entire manuscript that the fifteen gathered authors had a lot of fun while writing, and their good mood completely managed to transfer to the readers, because they created a very unusual, witty and extremely unpredictable story abundantly populated with eccentric and memorable characters (the best example is spotted , the red-haired, gay Irish Rastafarian Micky McMannus). Also, in addition to interweaving the plot with numerous allusions to the works of James Joyce, the authors very often reach for mockery of the Irish mentality and customs, and the undermining of the conventions of the crime genre is common to each of them.
