Gorski vijenac

Gorski vijenac

Petar II Petrović Njegoš

In Gorski vijenac, Njegoš sings about the "investigation of the wanderers", an event that allegedly took place in Montenegro at the end of the seventeenth century, but about which there is no reliable data in historical science.

In this work of timeless value, Njegoš used an episode from the past to sing about key historical events from the end of the 17th century, to present a heroic understanding of the life and moral principles of a patriarchal man, to describe the circumstances on the geopolitical scene of the time and the daily life of the population of that time, i.e. its customs, culture, beliefs and traditions.
