Treće lice jednine

Treće lice jednine

Nedžad Maksumić

The third person singular is a very complicated and somewhat tricky stylistic device because all the characters in the novel are actually the author himself, and none of them are.

"This book actually talks about the history of the 20th century through the history of one family, or rather one Herzegovinian lineage. And that history, no matter how painful and tragic it was for that family, was also painful and tragic. He reconstructs political events, from Austria-Hungary, World War I, old Yugoslavia, new Yugoslavia, and some taboo topics such as emigration from Herzegovina, such as guest workers... all of this is somehow reflected through his family, but he does not write it in an expressionistic way. He studies historical facts and explains them in a new light, how objective it is is no longer a matter of some exact verification because it is about literature," said Mile Stojić, a writer and journalist, at the book promotion.
