"Shadow of an Angel" is an exciting continuation of Cynthia Hand's series about the half-angel Clara. Faced with tragic visions and difficult decisions, Clara must choose between fate and her love for Tucker.
In the thrilling fantasy novel Hallowed, author Cynthia Hand presents the sequel to the popular young adult series that began with the bestseller Unearthly. The protagonist, Clara Gardner—a part-angel—must face the consequences of her choices after a dark vision involving fire finally comes to pass. Although she had spent months preparing for that moment, the ensuing events brought misfortune and loss beyond her anticipation. Clara soon realizes that fulfilling her angelic purpose demands a tremendous sacrifice. She is torn between her intense feelings for her mortal boyfriend, Tucker, and the inescapable destiny binding her to Christian, another part-angel with whom she shares a mission. The situation is further complicated by a shocking new revelation in her visions: someone she deeply loves is destined to die in just a few months, and Clara must find a way to avert this new tragedy. Blending teen drama, forbidden love, and rich fallen-angel mythology, the author crafts a suspenseful story about coming of age and embracing one's identity. Hallowed is a moving and dynamic novel about the struggle against a preordained fate.
