Muhamed Abdagić
Muhamed Abdagić (1937–2017) was a Bosnian writer, journalist and publicist, known for his works that explore the culture, history and tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Born in Bijelo Polje, he started his career as a journalist, and soon distinguished himself as a prolific writer and researcher. He wrote essays, short stories, novels, and documentary and publicist works, often focused on historical and social topics.
One of his most famous works is Sandžak: History, People and Customs, which explores the cultural and historical specificities of the Sandžak region. He actively participated in the promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina's cultural heritage through his texts and media appearances. Abdagić left an indelible mark in literature and culture, recognized as an author who in a special way recorded the spirit of the time and space in which he worked.
For a long time, he was belittled and disputed because of his political views, and today he is considered one of the greatest Bosnian writers. In memory of him, literary meetings "Muhamed Abdagić" are held every year in Sjenica.
