A Little Before Everything, Long Ago We Are is the eleventh collection of poetry by Goran Rem (b. 1958, Osijek), a poet, essayist, literary historian, and member of the Quorum generation in Croatian literature.
Fra Martin respected the old literary custom of writing Commemorative Works on the occasion of important historical events or of honoring important people who were respected in the society of the time with Honorary Works.
The title poem, "The Black Rabbit," represents a kind of symbolist maneuver within "real" poetry, because like Baudelaire's "Albatross," it possesses a pronounced unambiguous charge.
This is a collection in which the city becomes an interlocutor, a space whose streets, parks and courtyards become places of encounter (with oneself).
The book is designed as a series of "islands" - individual poems that function independently, but complement each other, forming a thematic whole.
