Ova knjiga je serijalizovana i izlazila je u nastavcima i drugoj polovini četrdesetih godina. Na zahtjev čitatelja, urednik je pozvao Singera da nastavi slati nove nastavke, knjiga na engleskom jeziku je konačno objavljena 1950. godine.
