Ova knjiga je serijalizirana i izlazila je u nastavcima and drugoj polovici četrdesetih godina. Na zahtjev čitatelja, urednik je pozvao Singera da nastavi slati nove nastavke, a knjiga na engleskom jeziku je konačno objavljena 1950. godine.
