Biography

laus Mann, German writer, eldest son of Thomas Mann. At the age of 15, he wrote his first novel. Represented liberal ideas, so already in 1933 he was forced to emigrate from nationalist Germany to Amsterdam, Prague, Paris and Zurich, from where he went to the USA in 1936. In Amsterdam, he published the émigré magazine Die Sammlung and was one of the most significant representatives of international anti-fascist journalism. Disappointed with the post-war German reality, he committed suicide. In his early works, Mann was a spokesperson for the "lost" generation of Germans after World War I. His most significant novels are autobiographical and satirical along with social and psychological situations. Main works: Escape to the North, Pathetic Symphony, Mephisto, Vul, autobiography Prekretnica.
