Heroj ulice

Prljavo Kazalište

Heroj ulice is the third studio album by Prljavi kazalište, released on audio cassette in 1979. It marks the band's transition from their punk phase to a broader rock expression, with energetic songs and a recognizable urban sensibility.

Heroj ulice is the third studio album by the Zagreb band Prljavo kazalište, released in 1979, and this release is available in audio cassette format. The album represents an important turning point in the band's development - after earlier punk and new wave beginnings, the band turned to a more melodic rock expression, while maintaining the energy, social engagement and street poetics characteristic of the first years of their activity.

The album contains some of the most famous songs from the early period of Prljavo kazalište, among which stand out Heroj ulice, Mi plešemo, Sve je lako kad si mlad, Zlatne godine, Sretno dijete and Radio Dubrava. The lyrics of Jasenko Houra tell stories about growing up, youthful rebellion, everyday life on the streets of Zagreb and the generational feeling of the early eighties.

The album was produced by Igor Vidmar and represents one of the key releases of the Zagreb new wave. With its combination of sharp guitars, infectious melodies and honest lyrics, Heroj ulice marked the beginning of Prljavi kazalište's transformation into one of the most popular rock bands in the former Yugoslavia. The audio cassette represents an authentic release from the period when this format was the dominant music carrier and a valuable collector's item for fans of domestic rock and new wave.
