Anđelko Vuletić

The collection "Mason Tadija Tegoba" brings us the story of a brave mason and his challenges during the Second World War.

The novel takes place above the small village of Morašnica, on the border of Dalmatia and Herzegovina, and in the towns of Plavnik and Dubrava. Here is a brief summary of this interesting story:

The Usko tribe: The tribe arrives in the village of Morašnica, but time brings hunger, disease and poverty. The only surviving member of that tribe is called Tadija Tegoba. He is a mason and a stone cutter, he believes only in the sun and stone. Saving Barbara: Tadija rescues his wife Barbara from slavery and starts a family with her. Although he is a stonemason by profession, he becomes a master of his work. Stonemason's workshop: Tadija opens a workshop in Plavnik, where his sons Kam and Dom also learn the craft. Their life is not easy, but Tadija manages to provide for her family. War situation: War arrives in Plavnik, and Tadija faces challenges. The army is coming, and he has to move again. Unfortunately, Tadija, Dom and daughter Rona did not survive. His wife Barbara and son Kama leave, and their fate remains unknown. This story of courage, family and challenges takes us through time and emotions. With his words, Anđelko Vuletić created a colorful world in which we meet characters that leave a deep impression.

In a literary convincing way, Vuletić breaks down the taboo of Stalinism, which is equally freakish in every careerist and in every time in which the individual, and the collective, serves the government, and not the continuous liberation of man. - Jure K
