This book, awarded in 1888 at the "Kuriera Warszawskiego" contest, is set in Žmudža and describes the history of the protected environment on the estate, similar to the epic "Nad Niemnem" by Eliza Orzeszkowej.

The novel ends tragically. The main character, Devajtis, faces a series of unfortunate events and the loss of loved ones. Her journey is filled with sadness, and the end of the novel leaves a deep impression on the reader.
