Pismo

Pismo

Kathryn Hughes

One woman's past hides another's future... "Pismo" is a novel about the life stories of two women, separated by decades, but connected by their destinies.

A novel about love, loss and unexpected consequences in the lives of an abused housewife from the 70s of the last century and a girl from the very beginning of the Second World War.

Tina Craig works from morning to night volunteering at a thrift store to escape an unhappy home and an abusive husband. Checking the pockets of the worn suit, he finds an old letter in a still-taped envelope with a postage stamp.

Tina opens the letter and reads it, and that decision will change the course of her life forever. The letter was written on September 4, 1939, and she was moved by the content of the letter and the fact that the letter never reached the right address. He goes in search of the author and recipient of that letter, wanting to find out what happened to them.

Billy Stirling knows he acted like a fool, but he hopes to correct the biggest mistake of his life. On the fourth of September 1939, he sits down and writes a letter that he hopes will change his future, unaware of the fact that no one will read the letter for 34 years... That letter, in the end, will change many lives and destinies - in more ways than Billy could have imagined.
