The novel "Steel Moon" by Pavao Pavličić takes place in contemporary Zagreb and follows a series of mysterious suicides in the Home for neglected children.
The novel is based on the writer's experiences in Shanghai during World War II and in the Civilian Collection Center in Lunghua, where he was interned from 1942 to 1945. Steven Spielberg made a film of the same name based on the script by Tom Stoppard.
I define the novel as neo-historical, written exactly according to an established outline like other neo-historical novels; by inserting fictitious characters and events into a well-known, factual, historical framework.
Two brothers, at odds with the plot of a younger, corrupt and deceitful creature, is a theme that is already known in the foundations of many literary works.
