Spomenica Državne građanske škole Podravska Slatina 1918–1928
"Memorial of the State Civic School Podravska Slatina 1918–1928", published on the occasion of the school's 10th anniversary, is a collection of school history, statistics, photographs, and a presentation of the cultural and educational life of Podravska
The Memorial of the State Civic School in Podravska Slatina on the occasion of the institution's tenth anniversary was published in 1928 in Podravska Slatina. It was issued by the School's Teaching Council. This memorial (with text, tables and black-and-white photos) commemorates the first ten years of work of the State Civil School (formerly the Higher People's School) from 1918 to 1928.
The civil school in Slatina was founded during the Kingdom of SHS as a four-year vocational-practical school that provided more general and professional education to young people after public school. It prepared students for practical occupations in trade, crafts and agriculture and played an important role in raising general culture and creating the middle class in this part of Slavonia.
The memorial contains:
- historical overview of the establishment and development of the school
- statistical data on students, teachers and success
- presentation of the economic, cultural and educational situation of Slatina and its surroundings
- photos of the building, teachers and students
Today, this monument is a rare publication and a valuable source for studying the history of schooling, education and social development of Podravska Slatina in the first decade of the Kingdom of SHS/Yugoslavia.
