Humoreske

Jaroslav Hašek

The collection "Humoreske" presents a vivid, humorous and critical cross-section of Hašek's short prose.

"Humoreske" is a collection of short satirical and humorous stories by Jaroslav Hašek, published in a Yugoslav edition in 1954. The texts were written in the period before and during the First World War, and are characterized by Hašek's recognizable style: irony, absurdity, criticism of authority and a pronounced anti-war tone. The collection represents a broad overview of Hašek's early and middle work, in which the spirit that would later reach its peak in the novel The Good Soldier Švejk is already clearly visible.
