Chico – U šetnji kroz vrijeme #3: Dvorske nezgode
In medieval France, Chico becomes an assistant court jester. It seems the perfect job—until he discovers how dangerous a joke can be before the touchy King Philip IV.
Chico’s journey through time takes him to medieval France, where he finds an unusual job as an assistant court jester. For Zagor’s comic companion, the position sounds almost ideal. Entertaining a royal court, however, is very different from making friends laugh, especially when the throne belongs to the notoriously touchy Philip IV, known as Philip the Fair.
Dvorske nezgode draws its humour from the clash between Chico’s spontaneity and royal authority. A remark that might provoke laughter elsewhere can become a serious offence before a king. Chico must entertain his audience while taking considerable care over whom he makes laugh—and how.
Tito Faraci uses the historical setting for a comedy about the precarious position of an entertainer among the powerful. Court service and the danger of a misunderstood joke give this adventure its distinctive character. Stefano Voltolini provides the artwork, with colours by Mad Cow.
The third issue of the six-part series U šetnji kroz vrijeme offers a self-contained episode within Chico’s continuing journey through time. It will appeal to readers of historical parody and the lighter side of Zagor’s world.
