August Šenoa began publishing this extensive historical novel of his in 1880 in Narodne novine. Death prevented Šena from completing this work. Based on his writings, the novel was continued and completed by Josip Eugen Tomić.
Young gentleman: August Šenoa describes the chaplain Janko Lugarić, whose real name was Janko Puškarić (1801-1874), and he was a chaplain until his death in various parishes in Hrvatski Zagorje, Pokuplje and Turopolje.
Šeno's historical novel Peasants' Revolt is a faithful reconstruction of the famous uprising of Croatian peasants in 1573 and all the events that preceded it.
