Zagor – Kolor #17: Gospodar groblja
In New Orleans, Zagor and Chico help Guede Danseur fight a voodoo sorcerer who has turned enslaved plantation workers into a zombie army serving him and a ruthless wealthy man.
Zagor and Chico arrive in New Orleans to help their old friend Guede Danseur. They face a voodoo sorcerer who has transformed enslaved plantation workers into an army of zombies. Their enforced obedience serves both the sorcerer and an unscrupulous wealthy white man.
Gospodar groblja connects supernatural horror with the violence of slavery. People already deprived of freedom become instruments of an even more absolute form of control. The zombies are therefore more than frightening opponents: their plight also gives the adventure a theme of resistance to exploitation.
Guede Danseur’s return makes friendship the reason for Zagor’s involvement. New Orleans provides the setting for a story about dark powers and the human interests that exploit them. Voodoo magic, the undead and greed shape an episode combining adventure with horror.
Written by Stefano Fantelli and drawn by Marcello Mangiantini, with colours by GFB Comics, this issue will appeal to readers of Zagor’s darker adventures, particularly those in which supernatural danger grows from an alliance between sorcery and human cruelty.
