Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Joanne Kathleen Rowling

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the third book in the series of Harry Potter novels by British writer J.K. Rowling. The book was published on July 8, 1999. This is the first paperback edition of the book.

Harry spends his third summer with the Dursleys. Harry receives many birthday presents and is informed that he can visit Hogsmeade, the village next to Hogwarts. He needs a guardian's signature for that, but Uncle Vernon won't let him. He leaves Kalina's driveway 4 with luggage. A powerful bus took him to the Hollow Kettle, a coffee shop in London. He stayed there for a week until the beginning of the school year. Every day he inspected the Fire Lightning, the best broom in the world, in the shop in Zakutna Street. Ron and Hermione, Harry's best friends, also came there. Hermione was bought by a cat named Crookshanks. Ron had a rat called Scabbers (Shugonj) and that's how a little fight started. Harry, Ron and Hermione went to the Hogwarts Express, where they saw the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, R. J. Lupin. Dementors, the guards of the wizarding prison Azkaban, broke into the Hogwarts Express to find Sirius Black, an assassin who killed 13 people with a single curse. Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban. The Dementors visit the school and at the beginning Dumbledore explains that the "visit" is for protection. Harry turns out to have a strange affinity for Dementors. Students gain new items, Care of Magical Creatures and Fortune Telling. Malfoy was attacked by a hippogriff and the Board wanted to kill him. For Christmas, Harry received a Firebolt from an unknown person. Strange things are happening at Hogwarts, the Fat Lady (portrait in the entrance to Gryffindor Tower) runs away, Hogwarts is killed, but Hagrid finds him. Harry gets a Roaming Map that allows him to see all of Hogwarts. He takes "anti-dementor" classes with Lupine and learns the Expecto Patronum spell. Shugonja escapes from Ron's hand and the trio follows him. They meet in Screaming Manor, in Hogsmeade. There he saw none other than Sirius Black. Snape (professor) and Lupine arrive and explain to them that Sirius did not tell Voldemort where Harry's parents are, as they say, but Peter Pettigrew, that is, the Shugonja. Sirius turns out to be Harry's godfather. Sirius is trapped at the top of the dark tower. Harry and Hermione travel back in time to save the hippogriff and Sirius. After the skirmish with the Dementors, Harry is taken to the hospital wing. It's the end of the school year, meaning Harry is condemned to another summer in Kalina's drive number 4. Before returning to Kalina's drive, Harry receives a letter from Sirius, telling him that he sent him Firebolt.
