Zagor LU #347: Vukovi i janjad
Zagor exposes the criminal network controlling Heavenwood, investigates a Native tribe’s enslavement and receives help from a mysterious ally.
Vukovi i janjad concludes Zagor’s investigation in Heavenwood, a small town whose respectable appearance conceals organised crime. Violence is no isolated occurrence here: behind the façade of honesty operates a group that holds the community in its grip.
The murder investigation becomes intertwined with the fate of a nearby Native American tribe, whose subjugation serves someone’s sinister purposes. As Zagor pursues those responsible, a figure working in the shadows offers assistance. The hidden ally’s identity adds another mystery as the investigation approaches its conclusion.
Tito Faraci combines crime fiction with questions of power, exploitation and responsibility. The contrast between wolves and lambs evokes the relationship between aggressors and victims, while also suggesting how difficult it can be to recognise predators among apparently respectable citizens. Public reputation and actual conduct form the moral centre of this western adventure.
Marcello Mangiantini illustrates the shifts between investigation, threats and action. The issue completes the three-part story begun in Dobrodošli u Heavenwood and continued in Nitko nije nedužan. Reading all three instalments in order provides the full narrative.
