Književno-istorijske studije o odnosu književne, kulturne i opšte istorije sastoje se od četiri tematski koherentne celine: „Istoriografska sagledavanja“, „Monografski aspekti“, „Gundulić u svetlu književne antropologije“ i „Antični i moderni glasovi“.

U prvom delu autor kritički problematizuje aspekte sa kojih se dela kanonskih autora posmatraju u našoj književnoj kritici i književnoj istoriji, u drugom preovlađuju mediteranske teme, a treći, kako i sam naslov sugeriše, određen je antropološkim pristupom Gundulića, te u uvodu, kao metodološku osnovu, predstavlja antropologiju Žirara i Gansa. Četvrtu celinu čine dve studije, jedna opisuje poetiku političke prakse Držića i Vetranovića, a druga delo Gorana Tribusona. Koristeći različite metodološke postupke, autor ispituje književna i pozorišna dostignuća u kontekstu kulturne i opšte istorije, vodeći računa da njegovi tekstovi budu jasno napisani i da do ciljne publike dopru uglađenim stilom.
