Hitler osvajač: raskrinkavanje jedne legende

Rudolf Olden

One of the first anti-Hitler works, published by Nolit as early as 1933. This is an early, shorter version of the work (originally published anonymously in Prague), which preceded the expanded edition from Amsterdam in 1935.

Olden, a German lawyer, journalist and anti-Nazi publicist, does not present Hitler as a demonic genius in this book, but as a puppet and instrument of big capital, industry, military circles and conservative elites of the Weimar Republic. He analyzes Hitler's past, his rise to power and the mechanisms by which he became a "conqueror", emphasizing that Nazism is the product of certain social and economic forces, and not just one man.

The work is written sharply, documented and polemically, with the aim of breaking the legend of Hitler's invincibility and genius. It represents one of the first systematic critical works against Nazism written in exile, just a few months after Hitler came to power.

Nolit's 1933 edition testifies to the early awareness in Yugoslavia of the danger of Nazism and to the courage of the publishers who dared to publish such a text at a time when most of Europe still underestimated Hitler. Today, this is a very rare antiquarian book with high historical value.
