Zagor LU #78: Zatrovani tomahavk
Zagor challenges human sacrifice among the Skidi as a conspiracy threatens Chief Talesharo. A struggle for power endangers the attempt to end a brutal custom.
Zatrovani tomahavk concludes an adventure in which Zagor’s opposition to human sacrifice becomes a conflict over leadership and the tribe’s future. Chief Talesharo wants to end the brutal practice, but the shaman Pauanas opposes him. Religious authority conceals a struggle for influence and control over the community.
Moreno Burattini combines an action Western with questions about changing customs protected by powerful individuals. Zagor must intervene where fear of divine punishment can be turned against anyone demanding reform. The conflict therefore involves both physical danger and resistance to an authority presenting personal interests as a collective obligation.
Gallieno Ferri illustrates the title story, alternating tense exchanges with combat. At its centre lies the question of whether a community can reject violence justified by tradition without falling under another form of arbitrary power.
In the final section, Ade Capone and Francesco Gamba begin Una morte misteriosa, a new adventure leading towards the sinister world of Pegleg’s mine. The issue thus connects the conclusion of the story begun in Indijanska krv with the opening of a horror adventure continued in Prokleto zlato and Indijansko groblje.
