Dirljiva priča iz romana *Jadnici* prati hrabrog i neustrašivog pariskog dečaka Gavroša, koji svojom vedrinom, prkosom i nesebičnom žrtvom postaje simbol borbe za slobodu i pravdu.

„Gavroš” Viktora Igoa je posebno izdanje čuvene epizode iz njegovog monumentalnog romana „Jadnici”. U središtu priče nalazi se lik Gavroša, napuštenog pariskog uličara koji, uprkos teškom životu u siromaštvu i zanemarivanju od strane sopstvene porodice, zadržava nepokolebljiv duh, izuzetnu dovitljivost, humor i veliku plemenitost. Gavroš oličava prkos pariske sirotinje i nevinost koja pronalazi radost čak i usred najdublje bede. Radnja dostiže vrhunac tokom Junske pobune u Parizu 1832. godine, kada se dečak bez oklevanja pridružuje revolucionarima na barikadama. Njegova hrabrost i posvećenost idealima slobode i prijateljstva prikazani su u nezaboravnoj, dirljivoj sceni u kojoj on sakuplja municiju ispred barikada pod kišom metaka, sve vreme pevušeći svoje prkosne pesmice. Kroz lik Gavroša, Igo stvara ne samo tragičnog junaka već i snažnu društvenu kritiku nepravednog sistema koji decu ostavlja na marginama društva. Ovo delo ostaje vanvremenski simbol mladalačke neustrašivosti, borbe protiv nepravde i čiste, nesebične žrtve za viši cilj.
