Zagor LU #309: Rat špijuna
Smirnoff plans an assassination to provoke war between Britain and Russia. With help from friends versed in espionage, Zagor races to prevent an international catastrophe.
Rat špijuna continues the return of Smirnoff, an adversary who favours political manipulation over open confrontation. A planned assassination is intended to trigger a war, and Zagor must act before the conspiracy’s consequences become unstoppable.
The target is a British nobleman connected with the royal succession. Smirnoff intends to blame the Russians and provoke conflict between two empires. Friends familiar with international espionage assist Zagor, but the time available is rapidly running out.
Luigi Mignacco constructs an espionage western in which information becomes a weapon. Defeating an attacker is not enough: Zagor must understand who benefits from deception, how guilt can be manufactured and where the enemy’s plan can be disrupted. Personal hostility acquires much wider political stakes.
Walter Venturi’s artwork connects conversations and revelations with dynamic scenes of danger. The race against time sustains the suspense, while Zagor must assess both visible threats and the intentions concealed behind them.
This is the middle chapter of the trilogy spanning Ludens #308–310, following Osveta Smirnoffa and leading into the concluding Ubijte lorda Malcolma!.
