Dreh dich nicht um, Sohn ist ein Roman für Kinder, der entstand, nachdem der Autor das Drehbuch für den gleichnamigen Film geschrieben hatte. Der Roman beschreibt Ereignisse während des Zweiten Weltkriegs.

Die Hauptfigur, Ingenieur Neven Novak, entkommt dem Zug, der Gefangene in das Lager Jasenovac transportiert. Nach seiner Flucht beschließt er, seinen Sohn Zoran zu retten, der in einem Ustascha-Kinderheim in Zagreb untergebracht ist. Zoran steht unter dem Einfluss der Ustascha-Propaganda und erkennt seinen Vater nicht an, was ihre Flucht in Richtung Partisanengebiet zusätzlich erschwert. Der Roman beschäftigt sich mit den Themen elterliche Liebe, ideologische Indoktrination und persönlicher Mut in schwierigen Zeiten. Für den gleichnamigen Film aus dem Jahr 1956 schrieb Diklić zunächst das Drehbuch, anschließend entstand darauf basierend ein Roman. Dieses Werk gilt als bedeutender Beitrag zur Literatur, die sich mit Kriegsthemen und dem Aufwachsen unter Kriegsbedingungen befasst.
