Do not turn around, son is a novel for children created after the author wrote the screenplay for the film of the same name. The novel describes events during World War II.

The main character, engineer Neven Novak, escapes from the train transporting prisoners to the Jasenovac camp. After escaping, he decides to save his son Zoran, who is housed in an Ustasha children's home in Zagreb. Zoran is under the influence of Ustasha propaganda and does not recognize his father, which further complicates their escape towards Partisan territory. The novel explores the themes of parental love, ideological indoctrination and personal courage in difficult times. Diklić first wrote the screenplay for the film of the same name from 1956, and then a novel was created based on it. This work is considered a significant contribution to literature dealing with war themes and growing up in wartime conditions.
