Malcolm Lowry

Roman je Lowryjev opus magnum, koji je pisao gotovo čitav život. Rad na njemu započeo je 1930-tih i dorađivao ga boreći se s vremenom i alkoholizmom. Neuspješno je za njega tražio izdavača više od 10 godina i konačno ga objavio 1947.

Roman govori o pijanici u Meksiku, bivšem državnom dužnosniku, koji uništava svoj brak i sebe. Radnja je autobiografska, zasnovana na Lowryjevom životu. To je jedno od najboljih, ali i posljednjih djela svjetskog modernizma.
