Jožef Ač

Painter, art critic and pedagogue from Bačka Topola (Bačka Topola 1914 ― Novi Sad 1990) was a key figure in Vojvodina's artistic creativity during the long period of half a century and on several occasions had a decisive influence on the development of Vojvodina's painting. He attended primary school in Bačka Topola, then grammar school in Subotica. In 1938, he graduated from the Belgrade Art School and continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade in the class of Professor Milo Milunović. He was the director of the School of Applied Arts in Novi Sad from 1952 to 1956 and art critic of the Magyar Szo daily newspaper. Areas of artistic work: painting, graphics and drawing. According to all this, Ač represents a typical character of the "Vojvodina" artist. Numerous awards and recognitions testify to his creativity.
