Elie Abel

Elie Abel (1920–2004) was a distinguished American journalist, author and professor, known for his role in political journalism and analysis of international relations. Born in Montreal, Abel studied at McGill University and Columbia University, where he honed his journalistic skills.

During his career, he worked for leading media houses such as The New York Times, NBC News and CBS News. His reports from key moments of the Cold War, such as the Berlin Crisis and the Cuban Missile Crisis, set the standard for analytical and accurate political reporting. He is the author of several books, including The Missile Crisis (1966), which details the culmination of tensions between the US and the Soviet Union.

As a professor of journalism at Stanford University and Columbia University, Abel influenced generations of journalists. His work continues to serve as an example of excellence in journalism.
