Branko Ćopić

"Glorious Warfare" is a children's novel by Branko Ćopić, published in 1961. It is a continuation of the novel "Eagles fly early", followed by the novel "Battle in the Golden Valley", so these three novels represent the "Pioneer Trilogy".

The story is set at the beginning of the Second World War in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. After their village was attacked by the German and Ustasha armies, a group of boys, together with their friend Lunja and the village farmer Lijana, decide to join the partisan youth battalion and to fight together with them in their hometown. The book describes the events and battles in which they participated, as well as their upbringing. The book is interwoven with humor and jokes, which are mainly manifested through the field farmer Lijan.
