"The Poet Speaks: Philosophical-Aesthetic Riddles" by Dragutin (Drago) Ćepulić is a collection of short, thoughtful essays in which the author reflects on literature, art, philosophy, and human creativity in a witty, insightful, and unobtrusive manner.
A book of reports, written in Podravka's factory newspaper in the 1970s. Prvčić's interlocutors (with excellent black-and-white photo portraits) include, for example, a toilet attendant, a cleaner, a driver, a taster, a machine worker...
The book is still required reading at philological faculties today because it systematically connects language with literature and social context for the first time. It is written clearly, without ideological exclusivity, which was a rarity in 1990.
Dubravko Ivančan (1931–1982) was a Croatian poet, essayist, and translator, known for his works for children and young adults. One of his most famous works is "Jaje harambaša", first published in 1958.
