"Pet svjedoka" (1942.), poznat i kao Murder in Retrospect u nekim izdanjima, kriminalistički je roman Agathe Christie u kojem Hercule Poirot istražuje ubojstvo staro 16 godina. Po mišljenju kritike, jedan od najboljih Agathinih romana.

Mlada Carla Lemarchant angažira Poirota da razjasni smrt svog oca, slikara Amyasa Cralea, za koju je njezina majka Caroline osuđena i umrla u zatvoru. Carla vjeruje u majčinu nevinost, a Poirot pristaje istražiti slučaj.

Amyas je otrovan koniinom tijekom slikanja u vrtu svog imanja. Caroline, ljubomorna zbog Amyasove afere s modelom Elsom Greer, bila je očita krivka. Poirot ispituje pet svjedoka – „pet malih prasaca“ iz dječje pjesmice: Philipa Blakea, prijatelja žrtve; njegova brata Mereditha, ljekarnika; Elsu, Amyasovu ljubavnicu; Angelu, Carolineinu mlađu sestru; i guvernantu Ceciliju. Svaki svjedok pruža svoju verziju događaja, otkrivajući složene odnose, ljubomoru i skrivene motive.

Poirot rekonstruira dan ubojstva kroz razgovore i psihološku analizu, otkrivajući da je istina zamršenija nego što se čini. Roman se ističe strukturom s pet različitih perspektiva, što pojačava napetost. Rasplet donosi neočekivani obrat, razotkrivajući ubojicu čiji motiv leži u duboko skrivenim emocijama.
