"Poems and Essays" by A. B. Šimić is a posthumous publication that brings together selected poems and essays by one of the key figures of Croatian expressionism. This selection of his poetry and essays was edited by Vesna Krmpotić.
The first third of the book provides reviews of Russian literature (Chekhov, Ljeskov, Pushkin...). The second chapter deals with world literature (Balzac, Stendhal, Roland...), and the third chapter contains general articles.
The book influenced Yugoslav literary criticism in the 1950s, promoting Marxism in art.
