Agnesina ispovijed

Agnesina ispovijed

Hannah Kent

The plot of the novel Agnes' Confession is based on true events related to the fate of Agnes, a young woman accused of the brutal murder of her boss in Iceland back in 1829.

After being sentenced to death by beheading, Agnes is sent to a lonely farm where she awaits her execution and begins her confession to Deacon Tóti about what really happened and what preceded the bloody crime in which she was involved. Agnes' confession is a novel with an intriguing plot, and the pleasure of reading is contributed by lyrical descriptions of Icelandic landscapes and a faithful reconstruction of the harsh patriarchal culture from the beginning of the 19th century in the most remote European country. The novel has been translated into twenty languages, and a film adaptation is expected with Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role.
